Course Description
Because athletic coaches often are strong role models in the lives of young men, they are uniquely positioned to positively influence how boys think and behave, both on and off the field. The Coaching Boys Into Men curriculum, which can be easily integrated into regular coaching strategy and sessions, focuses on these guiding principles:
-
The power of sports: the principles of teamwork and fair play make sports an ideal platform to teach healthy relationship skills.
-
Coach as a leader: as influencers and role models, coaches are uniquely poised to teach and model healthy behavior.
-
Building leadership, transforming norms: athletes are given the tools and vocabulary they need to stand up for respect and influence their culture.
CBIM has been proven to positively affect male athletes’ bystander behaviors and reduce abuse perpetration. You can change the culture of a team, a neighborhood, a school, or an entire community!

Coaching Boys Into Men was created by Futures Without Violence, which develops innovative ways to end violence against women, children, and families.
